Wrought iron wall art is a beautiful way to express yourself by using something that balances both delicacy and strength. It can be a very feminine piece, or very masculine, or something in between, since wrought iron is very functional and is available in a great variety of styles and finishes from retailers worldwide. Pieces abound in all styles, prices and for every space in the home: from wrought iron outdoor wall clocks suitable for a garden or living space to a wrought iron wall cross to grace your living room, entry or bedroom.  If you are looking for something to finish the look of a room, or a great focal point, here are some tips to choosing delicate yet substantial wrought iron wall art.

Choosing something delicate means that you must be extra careful not to break or damage the artwork, especially while getting it home and inside, then while hanging or mounting. Delicate artwork can be beautiful, but it would be a tragic loss if it happened to get knocked down and broken, or broken on the way home. Most stores do not allow returns for items that you break by accident, and you are out some of your decorating budget.

Finding something substantial can also have drawbacks. The more substantial the wrought iron, the heavier it will be, and this can make carrying and mounting alone nearly impossible. Choosing something very sturdy may seem like a great idea at the time, but unless you have a helping hand, and a very good place to hang or mount without ruining a wall, your art may very well be better off in the store.

Learning to find a balance between delicate and substantial is the key to choosing a great piece of wrought iron wall art. Look for pieces that are sturdy enough to travel well, and able to be mounted or hung without problem, without being very heavy and/or bulky. If you aren’t sure how a certain style of wall art hangs or is mounted, ask for help from someone who works at the retailer where the item is available. These people are often trained to know information about the department where they work, and can offer advice and tips that will make the installation part much simpler.

Even the most detailed and intrinsic pieces can be a substantial addition to any room, if they are designed correctly. Make sure that there are not a lot of long, slender pieces that can bend or be broken easily. If there is extensive scrolling or detailing, make sure that you have adequate help and knowledge about how to mount the artwork safely in your home to prevent breakage or permanent damage.

Finally, make sure that you get advice about how to keep your wrought iron wall art looking its best. Some products are not made for cleaning wrought iron, and could cause damage, or be ineffective altogether. Most people choose just to dust the artwork, but if you choose to clean in another way, it is critical to make sure that all cleaners that you use are safe for wrought iron specifically. Ask an expert, or use resources such as an online search engine for more details.

In my country (Jamaica) we do not have such exquisitely detailed wrought iron items like u do in the U.S.A. In fact from what I have seen here they look like art. Then again we use wrought iron for security.
