Cool Colors that Cool the Senses

Contemporary decor styles need just the right shades in order to complete the look and make the room feel relaxing and stylish. A modern and contemporary room really needs cool colors that cool the senses, especially bedrooms and bathrooms that should feel more peaceful and tranquil, as well as living rooms or dining areas that need a modern touch. There are many shades that are in the cooler color spectrum, depending on the mood and environment that you are creating in the room, and they pair very well together or with classic white, basic black, or many different brown shades. Cool colors can be used directly on the walls with paint or wallpaper or they can be used as accent colors in contemporary metal wall decor and abstract metal wall hangings.

Blues

One of the most tranquil shades for a bedroom or bathroom is blue, and there are dozens of shades of blue that look great on the walls, for accessories, or even on the ceiling. They soften the room and cool the senses, since blue is opposite red on the color spectrum and therefore the passion burns very low at a maximum. Pastels are a very popular choice, but a deep or vibrant blue is a great choice for a focal wall, accessories, or to add pops of color in a neutral space. Blue is traditionally considered a color for a boy’s room, but it is a stylish choice for any room in the home with the right accent and accessory shades.

Greens

Green is considered the color of choice for any peaceful room, and it is a common option in a bedroom for this reason; it is also popular in a home office space since it is also the color of money. Stay away from the warm greens, and lean more toward those on the blue end of the color spectrum to cool the senses and create a more relaxed environment with your decor. The earthier greens are a great choice if you want an eco-friendly look, especially paired with great shades of cool brown or black. You can also pair a deeper green with white, off-white, beige, gold, or shades of gray.

Grays

Another very popular and modern choice for a cool and contemporary room, there are many shades of gray that look great in the living or dining room, bathroom, or bedroom. The lighter shades are perfect for complementing dark colored furniture or flooring, while the deeper shades make great focal walls, accessory choices, or options as stripes or pinstripes on the wall. Choose gray if you want to stick to a cool look without losing the neutral tones in that particular room, or if you want to design a space that appeals to a guy without resorting to the traditional blue shades.

Metallic Shades

The coolest option, for your senses and the room’s environment, metallic shades are an ideal complement to any modern, contemporary space. For example, a great silver shade for accessories complements your blue walls and light-colored flooring, while a gold shade perfectly matches a green wall and any shade of floor. Metals are also a great choice for accessories in a contemporary room, especially a bachelor pad or man-cave within your home.
